This weekend I will be working on my newsletter concerning my Autism Spectrum Advocacy. I sent my newsletter to Dr Tony Attwood and he informed me that it was good and is looking forward to the next one. This newsletter I will be working on over the weekend. I have also been in touch with Dr Attwood and he informed me of his travels to the United States for 3 weeks.
I am pleased to announce that book orders for my book "I Want To Work An Asperger Story" with a Foreword from Dr Tony Attwood have been doing well. Today I received a purchase order from James Bennett Book Suppliers for an additional 5 books to be sent to them. Once these books arrive which hopefully should not be too long, I will be filling this order and also the order for an additional 5 books to be sent to South Australia. As I am self publishing and have relied on the good work of Schuurs Publishers to assist me with book distribution, keeping up to demand is always an important priority.
Over the last week I have emailed a few IT and Software Companies in and around Australia. I have received one very important reply from the ANZTB - Australia and New Zealand Testing Board and I have registered my interest in attending a conference in Wellington, New Zealand next year. I am not sure whether this will happen but if this is what it takes to get software testing happening then what else can I do?
Another important thing I would like to mention is that I have been in touch with Senator Sue Boyce's office. I have been asked by her office to provide feedback and key points to the Senate Sub Committee please visit following link Australian Government Senate Sub Committee I have informed Dr Attwood about this also. I would like to thank both Senator Sue Boyce, and Alex Hawke MP for purchasing book orders as well as Julie Attwood MLA - Mt Ommaney QLD and Taryna Smith LNP Mt Ommaney Candiate also.
Tomorrow afternoon Aspergers@UQ meets and the group is gaining a lot of enquiries. I have heard from parents, young adults and some interested persons about the group. Also Damian Santomauro who attends the group meetings has been made aware of enquries from young adults on the Autism Spectrum and one adult will be hopefully attending tomorrow afternoon's meeting.
There are still some difficult hurdles in life with raising awareness of the Autism Spectrum in adults but I would encourage you to follow my Twitter Page or this blog for the latest updates. If you or your organisation are interested in receiving my newsletter also please be sure to visit my website in order to contact me www.garryburge.com
I have also applied for conference leave to attend next year's Asperger Syndrome Adult Conference. "Living Side by Side" Connecting people on the Autism Spectrum. Please contact Asperger Services Australia for more information. I also will be speaking at Rotary Club of Brisbane Planetarium on Thursday 13th October
On behalf of Garry Burge Asperger Syndrome and Autism Advocacy I thank everyone for their continued support.
Kind and warmest regards
Garry Burge
