Currently the University of Queensland Library is changing and such a change represents certain levels of anxiety. As in all workplaces need to change to adapt for the future, this will mean a change from the status quo.
It is often difficult to know exactly where you fit in relation to change and hopefully change will be positive but only time can tell. I am currently watching University Librarian's video cast on the changes to the University of Queensland Library and people may find this of interest and this has been included in this post by double clicking on the title page.
Do you think libraries need to go digital and if so how would such a process be undertaken and how long a time frame? What do you think the library of the future should look like? By watching this video podcast perhaps you may have some ideas as to what a future library will look like and how it will affect you as a student, academic or library user. Change is needed to perhaps open minds more but only time will demonstrate the results and whether such outcomes will be positive. I often feel anxious when workplaces change as who will be the new line manager and will they understand my situation. It can be very anxiety provoking to not know what is happening and a change of a line manager can seriously put you in a difficult situation if the line manager does not understand you abilities if the line manager is changed. A person with Asperger Syndrome can become very anxious about a work environment changing. It is interesting to know and hope that change will make the work environment positive for the future.
One of the major areas of anxiety in a workplace can be the change of a 'line manager'. This can cause anxiety because you can be changed to someone else who may not be as understanding and supportive.
